Equipment Rental Terms and Conditions

By receiving Sheridan’s rental equipment for your program and year of study, you, as the “Renter” (whose name appears in the Rented To field on the Rental Contract) are responsible for keeping the equipment in working order when accepting a rental, and the Renter is responsible for safeguarding the transport and storage of the equipment in their possession both on or off campus and may be held liable for damage or loss of equipment.

Important policy reminders:

  • The Renter is solely responsible for the equipment stated in the Rental Contract
    • the Renter must be present at time of pick up and return
    • the Renter should check all equipment to identify missing or damaged items during their pick-up time
  • The Renter will not hand off or share Sheridan equipment with other students or persons
  • The Renter will not store rental equipment unattended in an unsecured location (e.g., cars or other vehicles)
  • The Renter may not leave the province of Ontario with any Sheridan equipment without explicit permission
  • The Renter will use Sheridan equipment for curriculum-based assignments and projects only, and may not use equipment for personal projects
  • The Renter will report damaged, lost/stolen equipment immediately to their Sheridan Equipment Rental Centre
  • If the Renter withdraws from a program or course all rental equipment in their name must be returned to Sheridan College as soon as possible

All rentals/loans are subject to these Terms & Conditions, which are part the more comprehensive Student Equipment Rental Policies (NEW➨ listen to the podcast).

Students should also familiarize themselves with the Rental Extension and Rental Account Strike policies.

✲ PLEASE NOTE
Failure of the Renter to return rental equipment for any reason by the end of their rental period would violate Sheridan’s Student Equipment Rental Policies. As a result, per the Office of the Registrar, the replacement value will be added to the Renter’s Sheridan financial account and a Registration Hold will be applied against their student account—this may cause an interruption in obtaining transcripts, diplomas, certificates or degrees and enrolling for subsequent terms. Prolonged unpaid fees will be forwarded to an external Debt Collection Agency.
